The professional guidance program is aimed both at people who reside permanently in the Foundation’s Social Integration Residences, at individuals that attend the Day Center and at people with intellectual disabilities who reside with their families but equally claim the right to work.
Specialized Job Coaches undertake the market research to find the appropriate position in which a person with an intellectual disability can work, always taking into account their interests and capabilities. They then monitor the individual’s progress and development in the workplace, contact the employer and record the needs and responsibilities of the position in order to provide the individual with the orientation and training to meet the requirements. At the same time, they maintain in constant contact and inform the family about each professional development and performance.
The “Supported Employment” program also provides career guidance services to people with intellectual disabilities with the aim of properly informing them about the range of career options as well as ways of their smooth integration into work and society.
With the support of the Department of Social Inclusion and through the “Supported Employment” program, today 23 people with intellectual disabilities are successfully employed in the open labor market, in supermarkets, hair salons, and dairies, hospitals, libraries and they receive, in addition to their salary, the satisfaction of productive employment and equal treatment in society.
