In 1960 it was founded under the name "Psychopedagogical Center". Thanks to the coordinated efforts of its volunteers and benefactors.
In 1964, it was founded as a limited liability company under the name "Limassol Foundation for the Protection of Retarded Persons”
In 1980 it was renamed ''Agios Stefanos'', a non-profit, voluntary organization
In 1993, it acquired a privately owned property, of 2500 sq m. The private property houses the Institute and the administration offices of the organization, (Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue, Limassol).
In 1993, the Day Center was created; a place for career and technical education, skills training and entertainment for people with intellectual disabilities who live with their families.
In 1996, «Agios Stefanos» joined the YKE (Social Welfare Services) program. It created the first Social Integration Residence(KKE1) where 5 people lived together, work under constant supervision and trained in dealing with their daily needs.
In 1998, an innovative employment program was launched within the organized framework of the structure. This is a personalised guidance with support for people with disabilities in the labour market with the Social Inclusion Department.
In 1999, the Second Social Integration residence was opened (KKE2).
In 2013, time came for the new housing and the third Social Integration Residence (KKE3) opened its doors.
In 2020, it creates the fourth Social Integration Residence (KKE4) with people who do not work, but attend the daily programs of the Day Center.
In 2021, it implements the Productive Protected Work method of Organic Soap and operates a social enterprise, an electronic shop selling products and crafts made by people who attend the program of the Day Center(e-shop)
